The primary requirement for this website design was that it serve both as an introduction and point of sale for the author’s upcoming book of poems and as a platform for attracting writers to her writing workshops.
Given the author’s focus on the therapeutic value of writing, the site was designed to provide a calm and welcoming introduction to her work while also allowing room for the rawness of pain as expressed in the book of poems and in the book’s cover art.
The homepage opens with a scene of calm and then directly introduces the subject matter of suicide and trauma and how writing can be a healing process—followed by an invitation to participate in writing workshops.
The user can easily understand the site from the homepage and follow the navigation to engage further.
